MILITECH 'CURVHEAD' UTILITY BOT / MAELSTROM MOD

I'm really excited and honored to have been chosen as one of the top 5 finalists for the #CyberUpYourPC world-wide design contest by CD Project Red

This and 4 other designs that they've chosen are going to be actually built by pro case modders in real life

This is my design however, it's heavily inspired by the FLATHEAD bot from the game, plus the MAELSTROM gang. In short, I've tried to make it look very aggressive and just mean so it really matches with the style of that gang.

I did very extensive research on any published trailers/screenshots from this game possible to make this as aesthetically true to the game as I could; the spider-legs for example were really something I was really debating with myself to keep or not, since they have to be hard to build, maybe a bit too crazy aswell, but I ultimately decided to free myself more creatively and do just what I wanted even if it was risky, while not actually breaking any concrete contest rules.

From initial sketch process to final render I used all of my limited free time to do this, which took about 3 weeks and I learned Blender and Substance Painter from scratch just for this project, but for the final effects/post processing I used Nuke because it was the only software capable of handling 16k renders.

Regardless of being chosen as a finalist or not, doing this project was actually an incredible amount of fun since it was exactly designing something that I'm really into. I also learned a great amount on the 3D side of things since as a VFX compositor I work with pixel data most of the time;
So in essence I'm just really thankful to CDPR, Alienware, Nvidia for the inspiration and opportunity.
